Area Information
The military community is an important part of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, and the relationship goes back to 1948 when the president of the Chamber assisted in the recruiting of a Marine Corps Base for Albany. Members of the military community are always welcomed and encouraged to attend Chamber functions and interact with the leadership of the region. The Chamber's Military Affairs Committee works with base officials to ensure the base's community role is recognized, and to demonstrate the community's appreciation for service members and their families who are assigned duty at the Marine Base.
Albany Airport, Chehaw Park and the Civic Center are just a 13 minute drive. The Florida Gulf Coast beaches are a 2 ½ hour drive.

Because of its close proximity to the Base, Families who reside aboard the installation can also elect to send their children to Worth County Schools. In addition to Dougherty and Worth, Lee and Mitchell Counties' schools are attended by Military Families who do not live on the Base.
Two colleges and a progressive vocational-technical institute make post-secondary education easily accessible.
Albany State University is a senior unit of the University System of Georgia with more than 40 major fields of study. ASU offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs and maintains flexible scheduling for nontraditional students. For more information, call ASC at (229) 430-4300.
Darton College is a two-year college in the University System of Georgia. Darton College offers two-year transfer and career degree programs and one-year career certificate programs. Shopping
Marine Corps Exchange is located in Bldg. 7500. This 40,000 square-foot mall houses the Retail Store, a Package Store, Barber Shop, Subway Sandwich Shop, Laundry & Dry Cleaning Shop, Information, Tickets and Tour, Leisure Travel Office and administrative offices. Exchange Main Store (229) 888-6801.
The Retail Store is open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sunday, noon-6 p.m. Closed holidays.
The MCLB Albany Commissary is located in the Marine Corps Exchange Mall, Bldg. 7500. The Commissary is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m.- 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The Commissary is closed Sunday and Monday.
Hospitals
The Military Sick Call Department and Outpatient Clinic of the Naval Hospital Jacksonville Branch Medical Clinic Albany is located on MCLB Albany in Bldg. 7205, near the Base Auditorium.
