Welcome to Porter Road

Pet Information

Built in 1905, the historical homes of Porter Road house those who hold Key and Essential positions related to their duties while stationed at the United States Naval Academy. Nicknamed “Captain’s Row,” this location is considered to be the most prestigious area to live in on the Yard. Porter Road is situated in a very high profile area and is passed daily by the many tourists that come to visit the United States Naval Academy each year. Merely passing by these homes grants a sense of history, as their exteriors remain much the same as they did in 1905.

Recently renovated, great care was taken to preserve historical moldings, hardwood flooring, ornate fireplace mantels, and overall charm of these homes. The updated kitchens feature cherry cabinetry, stainless appliances, and new lighting fixtures. Bathrooms have also undergone renovations, adding new fixtures and lighting. In most cases, tile and built-in cabinets were preserved and restored. To combine this treasure with modern demands, almost every room is wired for cable, Internet, and phone service, and several rooms include ceiling fans.

The Porter Road homes are graced with spacious screened-in front porches that are often used for entertaining guests and neighbors. In the spring they come alive with their blue and white signature awnings that officially signal it's time to come out and enjoy the weather. In addition to the screened porch area, each home has a brick patio in the private fenced-in backyard.

Neighborhood amenities include two pools with adjacent snack shops, several tot-lots and landscaped playgrounds. There are a wide variety of shops and services at the entrance of NSA Annapolis, and Porter Road’s proximity to downtown Annapolis assures easy access to the restaurants and fine shops along the waterfront. The nearby Annapolis Mall and the shopping centers along Route 2 offer plenty of opportunities for shopping, recreation, and dining. There is a wide selection of K-12 schools in the surrounding area.

There is a two-pet maximum for either cats or dogs. For more information regarding breed and other restrictions, please contact the Lincoln Military Housing District Office. No pet deposits and no monthly pet fees are required.
