Located 70 miles from Washington D.C. in scenic Southern Maryland, Challenger Estates is one of seven communities available for base housing. This neighborhood is located in California , MD and is off base.
The brand new homes of Challenger Estates are reserved for enlisted service members and feature three- to four-bedroom homes, including single-family, duplex and triplex floor plans. Complete with state-of-the-art appliances, fenced-in backyards and two-car garages, it is also a dog and cat-friendly community, and accepts a maximum of two pets per household with certain breed restrictions.
Neigborhood amenities on base include a community center, pool, two tot-lots by 2009, fitness center, a Navy exchange, and commissary. Popular shopping centers and great dining establishments reside only 10 minutes from the community, along with several K-12 schools and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Camping, golf, hiking and other adventures await on nearby Solomon’s Island, and the many museums, eateries and excursions available in Washington D.C are but an hour away by car.
