Nearby Norfolk offers such attractions as the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin and Nauticus, a National Maritime Center with an interactive science and technology focus, and the Mariners' Museum in Newport News.

Other area must-sees are the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk Botanical Garden, the Virginia Zoo, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, and the Children's Museum of Virginia, the state's largest interactive children's museum and home of the Lancaster train collection.
