Welcome Home, USS Boxer

|

The USS Boxer returned home Tuesday after seven months of training and operations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Hundreds of Sailors and Marines attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived on Tuesday, just in time for the holidays.

The Lincoln Military Housing (LMH), Camp Pendleton team, was proud to be a part of this special event. Lincoln Military Housing supports homecomings and considers them as part of the LMH culture.

LMH team members often provide patriotic giveaways to the families and refreshments to show their support of the families.

The USS Boxer was commissioned into the U.S. Navy in 1995 and has been homeported in San Diego since then. The Boxer has deployed more than a dozen times since its commissioning, including multiple deployments to the western Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Persian Gulf.

The Boxer also deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2003 with five other ships homeported in San Diego - the USS Bonhomme Richard, USS Cleveland, USS Comstock, USS Dubuque, and USS Pearl Harbor - as well as the USS Anchorage, which was decommissioned later that year.

Welcome home, USS Boxer, we are extra thankful that you were able to return home and be with your loved ones in time for the holidays!
